A Brew Come True

After months of meticulous planning and anticipation, Danette VanderBeek's lifelong vision of opening a coffee shop became a reality. On May 18, 2020, SheBrews Coffee House officially opened its doors at 114 N. St. Paul Ave. in Fulda, Minnesota 56131.

Barista and Owner Danette, a self-proclaimed "coffee snob" passionate about brewing, has always dreamed of opening a coffee shop. Despite having an already established career, she owns an acupuncture practice, Healing Point. Danette was determined to make her vision a reality.

How it brews to be

The first step was finding the perfect location. Contractor Randy Dierks of Randy Dierks Construction approached Danette with an idea to fill the other half of a storefront occupied by The Store, which opened in February 2020. VanderBeek seized the opportunity, and Dierks began customizing the space for the needs of the coffee shop. The space features a built-in playhouse. The walls of SheBrews hold products of The Store and Shebrews for purchase.

Stirring knowledge given

Naming the coffee shop was another important decision. Danette wanted a name that was distinct and memorable and referenced coffee. She eventually landed on SheBrews, a reference to the biblical book of Hebrews and the fact that she is a woman.

More beans to brew

The vision for SheBrews is twofold: to share Christian love and to educate people about coffee. Danette has created a comfortable environment where customers can ask questions and learn about the various coffee preparation methods. Plus, SheBrews also can be rented out for special events, with the option of having them on-site to prepare coffee.

The coffee shop is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu features a variety of beverages, including coffee drinks, hot chocolate, smoothies, and Italian sodas, as well as breakfast and lunch food items.
